Important - This week’s services

Dear Friends,

I am writing about this Sunday’s services. There are a number of important changes affecting all services, so please read below.

First up, the Zoom link for all services - including Columba Kids! - is now the same:

9am - Prayer Time (UNCHANGED)

All welcome on Zoom.

9.30am - Columba Kids! (HALF-HOUR EARLIER)

A twenty-minute service for children. Songs, stories and prayer on Zoom. See Zoom link above.

11am - Main Worship Service (IN CHURCH & ONLINE)

Our main service lasting up to forty-five minutes. This week is All Saints.

There is no 12.30pm service; instead the main service at 11am will take place in the church. Please can you share with those normally coming at 12.30pm.

I want to say a little bit more now about how we will organise the 11am service.

If you would like to attend in person then please could you let me know Jan Bento or me know/ We need to do this for track & trace and also so we know that we have enough space for everyone. If you are already part of the congregational list then we will have your telephone number already and so there is no need to pass this onto Jan. If you are new (brilliant!) then you will need to provide a contact number. We will hold onto your details only as long as required for track & trace.

If you don’t remember to let Jan know in advance then there will be the opportunity to sign in at the door on Sunday.

Children are welcome - just let usknow in advance if you can.

We will follow the latest government guidelines about no sinning - sorry, I meant "no singing" - one way systems, distancing, sanitisers and face masks.

Phew...what’s next....parking: there is plenty parking available at Rouge Bouillon School. For those who would appreciate parking closer to the church then we have some spaces at St John’s Ambulance. Please let me know and I can pass on the code for access into this plot of particularly practical paramedics parking.

I want to now talk to the many who will want to join online. I would like it to feel as normal as possible but the only thing I’m sure about is that at some point on Sunday it will all go a bit Pete Tong. At the moment, please can you assume that access to the service will be via the normal Zoom code above. It is possible that this may change to YouTube, but I will write again with details if it does.

Please, please know that Sunday is likely to feel a bit strange for all of us but we are one congregation (online and in person) and the intention is to make everyone feel part of things.

Please find a copy of the main service attached. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or strongly-worded suggestions to reduce the length of my emails. Details are also on the website (

Sent with very warmest wishes,

Sandy’s Story

There is a very nice article on the Church of Scotland website about an idea one of our members had for Remembrance Sunday. Sandy and I will be speaking about it on BBC Radio Jersey tomorrow at 7.50am

For the Jersey Evening Post

This is an idea that I want to share with you because I have found it brilliant. The idea comes from Max Lucado, is based on Paul’s words in Philippians 4: 4 - 8, and there are four letters to remembe
